The amount of fruits and vegetables you need to eat each day depends on your age, gender, and activity level.

In general you need to eat
PLENTY
of fruits and vegetables every day!

How much is plenty?

For people your age, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables everyday means eating at least 1 ½ - 2 cups of fruit and at least 2-3 cups of vegetables.

It may sound difficult, but San Diego has plenty of fruits and vegetables available!

1 cup is equal to:

1 medium potato or 20 medium to long french fries

1 large ear of corn

7 baby carrots

6 asparagus spears

8 large strawberries

32 grapes

1/2 cup of dried fruit

1 wedge watermelon

*when deciding how many fruits and vegetables to eat, picture the size of a baseball or tennis ball, which is about the size of 1 cup.

Can you estimate how many cups of fruit you ate yesterday? How many cups of vegetables?
