If you did not have villi, nutrients would not be moved from your small intestine to your blood.
Any undigested food from the small intestine goes into the large intestine.
The large intestine is very different from the small intestine. The large intestine looks like a long chain of hollow fists. Even though it is called the large intestine, it is shorter than the small intestine, as it is only five feet long. So, why is it called the large intestine then? It is called the large intestine because it is a lot bigger around than the small intestine.

The job of the large intestine is simple: to suck up water. Think of the large intestine as a big sponge. As the remaining undigested bolus of food moves through the large intestine, it becomes more and more dry. That's because your large intestine has absorbed as much water as it can and put the water back into your blood to keep you hydrated.
At the end of the large intestine, the leftovers of your pizza have no where to go but out! "Feces" is the medical (and polite) word for poop.
Food can stay in the large intestine for a couple hours or as long as a day and a half! Wow!

What happens when the large intestine does not suck up the water?
