When the water is not absorbed in your large intestine, you get diarrhea.

Isn't it amazing that it takes up to two days for your body to digest food? You may slam a piece of pizza in two minutes, but digestion can take up to two days to get the energy out of the pizza!

We are at the end of the great adventure of following pizza through our digestive tube, but there are three more important body parts that help us digest food.

The liver makes bile, a liquid that breaks fat into smaller pieces. Bile is stored in the gall bladder until fat enters the digestive system!

The pancreas makes juices that are sent into the small intestine to help digest fats and proteins.

The liver, gallbladder, and pancreas all have special jobs that are necessary for digestion.

But, it's not just your digestive system that is responsible for pulling energy and nutrients out of food! You can make wise healthy food choices, like eating 4-5 cups of fruits and vegetables everyday, to supply your body cells with many nutrients.
